Meet in the Street meeting

Banner from the Meet in the Street homepage

As part of Eugene's Pedestrian and Bicycle Strategic Plan, organizers are creating a Cyclovía-style-event designed to increase the city's notoriety as a place friendly to self-propelled people. There's a meeting 6 p.m. TODAY at the Keystone Café. The meeting agenda involves setting a tentative date, and announcing a budget outline and activities planned with community partners to engage businesses and attendees. For more info, check out the Google group and this report on a previous meeting.

Eugene cyclists can saddle up in style to promote bike riding as something besides a sweaty sport in Eugene once more on Sunday, April 26 at Hideaway Bakery, 9 a.m. In the words of Katura Reynolds, the artist behind the cheeky flier, "Let's revel in our woolens again before the weather gets too dang hot!" Photos from the first ride here and a writeup here.

UO Bike Loan Program to sell surplus equipment

A pile of bikes.

As part of the UO Outdoor Program's Gear Swap, the BLP will be selling off a bunch of bikes and components! There will be cheap department store bikes, at least one urban singlespeed, a couple high-end mountain bikes, a Canondale road bike, a complete BMX, and a slew of frames, wheels, and more. Come to the EMU Ballroom at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21 and get a deal!

Spring Roll bike scavenger hunt

Last year's flier.

Eugene's only team-scavenger-hunt-benefit-ride is back for 2009! Race around town and collect food from a secret list of local grocers this May 30. There's no entry fee, but you'll have to front the cash to buy canned goods, which will be donated to Food for Lane County. The image above is from the Spring Roll 2008 website.
